FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF BEING FUNDED?

The Kress Foundation annually receives about 1,500 requests for support. Of this number, only about 350 typically receive support, making the grant application process highly competitive. In addition, the Kress Foundation's approach is focused and strategic; each program and grant identifies and pursues a specific set of goals and objectives. You should read the guidelines provided elsewhere in this site carefully to see whether your project clearly fits within the range of activities that the Foundation supports.

WHAT IS THE SIZE OF GRANTS AWARDED ANNUALLY?

The majority of the grants awarded by the Kress Foundation are $25,000 or less. The Foundation asks each applicant to provide a budget that accurately reflects the needs of the project. The Foundation does not guarantee full funding for any project. The Kress Fellowship program provides set award levels.

HOW OFTEN DOES THE FOUNDATION MEET TO REVIEW PROPOSALS?

The Board of Trustees of the Kress Foundation meets three times per year. Generally, meetings are held in October, January, and May. However, the Kress Foundation reviews applications throughout the year.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE ONCE I'VE SUBMITTED A LETTER OF INQUIRY?

The Foundation makes every effort to respond within 8-10 weeks of receipt of a proposal. If the review process will be longer, the Foundation notifies the applicant of the expected final response date.
