Conservation of European monuments
was of particular interest to Samuel H. Kress and has been sponsored
by the Kress Foundation since its inception in 1929. For the past
three decades, the World Monuments Fund has administered the Foundation's
funding in this area, including a program of challenge grants
The Kress Foundation European Preservation Program
established in 1987. The program is now an integral part of the
Art of Europe in Context, reflecting the Foundation's concern
for the original sites for which works of art were created.
WORLD MONUMENTS FUND
The World Monuments Fund serves as
the private sector international leader in the preservation of
endangered works of cultural heritage throughout the world. It
administers The Kress Foundation European Preservation Program,
which grants $400,000 annually in a competitive program for the
conservation of European sites of artistic importance. Click below
