Peabody Essex Museum Hosts Art Museum Libraries Symposium, September 20 -21, 2012
In 2010 the Philips Library at the Peabody Essex Museum hosted the first Art Museum Libraries Symposium, which focused on the library’s role in the museum, data unity, the various audiences the institution serves, fundraising and collaboration among personnel, as well as future trends in the field. Building on the success of the symposium two years ago, a second symposium is scheduled for September 20 -21, 2012 to address topics that were not covered in the first. Sessions will be devoted to the views of museum directors, the meaning (and importance) of institutional archives, legal issues for libraries, access to collections, and preservation. To view the full program for the symposium, and to register for the event, visit: http://www.pem.org/library/symposium.
