The Kress Foundation is pleased to make available the following resources, including publications and other documentation about the Kress Collection, sponsored research on topics important to the Foundation’s constituents, and occasional reports authored by the Foundation.

Publications

Publications
A Generous Vision II, The Kress Collection: A Gift to the Nation and Studying and Conserving Paintings are among the publications available to view and download.

Publications devoted to aspects of the distributed Kress Collection, as well as those focused on Foundation activities, are available to view and download.

Kress Collection Catalogues

Kress Collection Catalogues
The Kress Collection Catalogues includes three volumes that are devoted entirely to the Italian paintings in the Collection: Italian Paintings XIII - XV, Italian Paintings XV - XVI and Italian Paintings XVI - XVIII.

From 1964 – 1977, the Kress Foundation sponsored the publication of the Complete Catalogue of the Samuel H. Kress Collection, published on behalf of the Foundation. These nine illustrated volumes are written by leading art historians and remain authoritative scholarship on the works in the Collection.

Sponsored Research

Sponsored Research
Analysis of Trends in Art History Publishing from University Presses, a report by Henry Pisciotta and James Frost, is the result of a study of the publication of books on art and architecture by university presses during a 17-year period.

The Kress Foundation has commissioned timely studies of topical issues related to the disciplines of art history, art conservation, and art museums. We present the results of these studies here, as well as other relevant studies the Foundation has supported.
