Palma Vecchio

Jacopo d'Antonio Negretti, called Palma Vecchio. Venetian School. Born c. 1480; died 1528. He was a follower of Giovanni Bellini and came early under the spell of Giorgione. Especially well known are his large-scale halflength figures of blond women, placid, languid, luxurious, in contrast to Titian's dramatic presentation of similar models.
