Digital Art History
August 15, 2016

In July 2016 the venerable art history journal, Zeitschrift für Kunstgeschichte, dedicated part of its current issue (Bd. 79 Heft 2) to a “debate” on “Art History and the Digital Humanities.” The keynote contribution, by Hubertus Kohle, Professor of Art History at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany, is entitled “Kunstgeschichte und Digital Humanities. Einladung zu einer Debatte/Art History and the Digital Humanities. Invitation to a Debate.” Professor Kohle’s characteristically stimulating editorial is followed by two responses, by Steffen Siegel, Professor at the Folkwang Universität der Künste, Essen, Germany, and by Max Marmor, Kress Foundation President.

We reproduce here Max Marmor’s contribution.

It is hoped that the entire “debate” will be published online.
