K1216

Waco, Tex., Baylor University, Study Collection (551A), since 1961.(1) Wood. 22 1/4 x 17 1/2 in. (56.5 x 44.5 cm.). Good condition except for some restoration in the hands; face in perfect condition. While the style accepted as Giampietrino's is here perhaps somewhat less pronounced than usual, the painting is clearly by some follower of Leonardo, probably around 1540, and the attribution to Giampietrino seems the most satisfactory.(2) Provenance: English Private Collection. Contini Bonacossi, Florence. Kress acquisition, 1939.
