Provenance

Possibly commissioned by the Aldobrandini Family from Florence around 1326/1346. Oscar Bondy [1870-1944], Vienna and New York; [1] his widow, Elizabeth Bondy; (Bondy sale, Kende Galleries, New York, 3 March 1949, no. 86 as Master of the Aldobrandini Triptych). (Julius H. Weitzner, London and New York); sold to Samuel H. Kress [1863-1955] on 7 April 1952 as Follower of Bernardo Daddi or The Aldobrandini Triptych; on loan to the Portland Art Museum in 1952; gift to Portland Art Museum in 1961, no. 61.51. [1] Confiscated with the Oskar Bondy collection in Vienna in 1938 and stored at the depot at Kremsmünster. Returned in February 1948 to his family (Bundesdenkmalamt, Vienna, file no. 2415/1948).
