Possibly from a Convent, perhaps in Sorrento. Private collection, Naples. (Piero Tozzi [1882-1974, Florence and New York), until 1923. [1] (F. Kleinberger, New York), purchased on 10 May 1923; (sale, American Art Association, Anderson Galleries, New York, 18 November, 1932, no. 69 as Christoforo Scacco, unsold); Dr. Paul Fiala, New York purchased in December 1938. (Count Alessandro Contini Bonacossi [1878-1955] Rome- Florence) sold to the Samuel H. Kress Foundation on 15 June 1948 as Cristoforo Scacco; gift to Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College, in 1961, no. 1961.80.
