Digital Art History
May 19, 2017

In October 2016 the Department of Art History & Archaeology and the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (MITH) at the University of Maryland, College Park hosted a symposium, Art History in Digital Dimensions: New Directions for the Field. The meeting brought together participants from the academy and museums, as well as the realms of information science, philanthropy, publishing and art conservation. This international, multigenerational cohort articulated both the challenges and the benefits that digitally-inflected, data-driven practices offer the discipline of art history and associated fields.
